The heart behind the music

I’m Aaron Hines, an R&B and soul artist originally from Charleston, South Carolina, now based in Fort Worth, Texas. Charleston shaped me, not just musically, but as a man. It’s a big part of how I hear and feel music.

My music lives in the tension between desire and detachment, intimacy and independence. A lot of what I create comes from the moments where emotions don’t have clear language. Music has always been a way to say what words can’t.

I want people to hear my music and see themselves in it. To feel understood. To not feel alone.
A lot of the themes I come back to are relationships, vulnerability, honesty, and sometimes faith, even when it’s not said directly.

What sets my music apart is the intention behind it. Every lyric, every note, every run is there for a reason. It’s controlled, subtle, and built to carry emotion without forcing it.
My music isn’t about trends. It’s about depth.

I was on Season 21 of The Voice, and I’m grateful for that experience. It gave me a different level of exposure and a real understanding of music in television. But what I’m building now is more focused and more personal.

Right now, I’m leaning into a sound that’s moody, minimal, and late-night. Records that don’t oversell emotion, but let it sit and breathe. This season is about refinement and intention, not just output.

Long term, I want my music to be known for honesty and restraint. Something that feels personal without being performative. Something you can recognize in the first few seconds, and something that lasts.

A lot of my perspective comes from living in tension. Between faith and real life. Between leading others and processing my own emotions. I don’t try to pretend I have everything figured out, but I’m also intentional with what I say.

Most people wouldn’t guess how structured I am. My music might feel effortless, but behind it there’s a lot of thought and intention. I approach it more like a builder than just an artist.

Faith doesn’t always show up directly in my music, but it’s always underneath it. It shapes how I see relationships, identity, and purpose, even when it’s not said out loud.
